01Email address
The address becomes the account's identity and how you recover access, so a durable one works best. Disposable addresses are refused.
02Code from the email
Codes arrive in seconds and last 10 minutes. Only the newest one works: requesting another cancels the one before it.
If this email already has an Obsideo account, verifying here issues new S3 credentials for it and the old ones
stop working within about 30 seconds. If something is running on those credentials, this will interrupt it.
This step also creates your account signing key, in this tab. Only its public half is sent to Obsideo, where it
is registered to your account and bound into the ownership record of each object you store.
03Your credentials
The secret key is shown once, here. Obsideo has no copy of your signing key. Both exist only in this tab until
you save them; losing the secret means verifying this email again, which replaces the credentials.
Keep both files together, outside any shared folder or code repository.
Use it with rclone
Or with restic
On encryption: Obsideo stores what your tool sends. restic and kopia encrypt on your machine before
upload. Plain rclone does not, unless you add an rclone crypt remote; if you upload unencrypted files, they are
stored unencrypted. That choice is yours either way.
